The concept of the house is based on the valuable views that this place
offers. It is important to create outdoor space for each apartment, which offers
views of the surrounding area, greenery, but also privacy. Creating open space to
the outside and its extension as well as illumination, there is a link to the
interior with the exterior. An essential element of the proposal is green, which is not only an
aesthetic element, but improves the overall environment and climate in the
building and its plot.
SITUATION
Atypical panel house from 80´s is located in Trencin in western Slovakia. The building has its own defined parcel and offers good view to the landmarks of the city, especially Trencin castle and surrounding countryside. Parcel and house itself have great potential to become a high-standard, modern place to live.

DISPOSITION
The first floor of the
house is the background, which is divided into social and technical area. Social area offers to residents the option of
meeting, relax or play sports. The technical part has room for storage and technical
appliances.
The other floors are residential. Each
floor has its own winter garden, a space that revives and enhances the entire
climate of the building. There are also enters into individual apartments. Dispozitions
of apartments are based on the original grid of the building, but in modern
form with a split zoning, proper orientation to the world sides and connected public
spaces with exits to terraces.
In the second and third floors are smaller
flats for 2 to 3 people with an area of 67 to 97 m2 . On
the upper floors are located more apartments with an area of 160 m2 and the
top two floors are four duplexes with the size of 138 and 172 square meters .
CONSTRUCTION
The original structure is reinforced concrete panels. Raster is retained, from the east and west side is added construction for balconies on an individual basis. Some balconies are closed, for increasing the interior space of the apartments.
Originally five floor apartment building has one floor added. The ground plan is smaller and offers a large terrace with green, offering the best view from the top od the building. The top floor has a roof shaped according to the sun, on which are placed solar panels and roof windows, which illuminate the apartments.
ENERGIES
Minimum energy requirements provides the
building shell with small energy losses due to the overall shape of the
building and mineral wool insolation. The
air circulation brings fresh air into each apartment, which is guaranteed the
climate comfort. Prevent overheating of the house there are
automatically operated sliding shades that are located on the eastern, western
and southern facades. North facade wall is covered with low vegetation,
which is excellent thermal and acoustic insulator.
Hot water is warming with the solar panels,
located on the roof of the house, with south orientation. In
the house is also located the rainwater tank and has the next use. Waste water
is trapped in another tank and then used for watering green in the house and
grounds.
